STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. — The NYPD arrested a 28-year-old man for allegedly hunting at Conference House Park in Tottenville on Staten Island.
Cody Pernice, 28, of Hepburn Street in upstate Norfolk near Potsdam, was arrested after an off-duty officer allegedly saw the suspect posting in a tree around 6:30 p.m., according to a spokesman for the NYPD’s Deputy Commissioner of Public Information.
Sources identified the police officer as Bryan Burgess.
The suspect, who allegedly had weapons in his possession, made statements that he was hunting deer, according to a police spokesman.
Pernice has been charged with prohibited use of a weapon and criminal possession of a weapon.

A post on the 123rd Precinct Twitter feed credited a vigilant off-duty police officer with assisting in the apprehension of the man allegedly illegally hunting deer.
